Fill in the Blank

A science classroom has 5 turtles and 7 frogs. What is the ratio of frogs to total animals?

6

Equivalent Ratios

There are an infinite amount of equivalent ratios.

Ratios are equivalent when they show the same relationship or show the same value.

We can use ratio tables to help us generate equivalent ratios.

Comparing Ratios

Ratio tables can be used to compare two different ratios.

What are the correct numbers for filling in the ratio tables?

1

Edith: 2, 3, 12, 15

2

Edith: 2, 3, 14, 16

Rashida: 4, 6, 25, 30

3

Edith: 3, 2, 12, 15

Rashida: 5, 7, 20, 25

12

Multiple Choice

Question image

Who has the better ratio of baskets to shots?

And why?

1

Edith, because she made 2 baskets out of 6 shots.

2

Rashida, because 2 + 5 = 7 and that is more than Edith's ratio (1 + 3 = 4)

3

Edith, because for every 15 shots she attempts, she makes 6 baskets compared to Rashida's 5 baskets

4

Rashida, because for every 15 shots she attempts, she makes 6 baskets compared to Edith's 5 baskets
