Force - is a push or pull. It is measured in Newtons (N)
Work is done when an object moves in the direction of a force. It is measured in Joules (J) or Newton meters (Nm).
In science work can be calculated by using the formula
Work = force x distance. {w=fxd}

What is a machine?

A machine is a device or tool used to make work easier. It makes work easier by increasing your force OR changing the direction of the force.
