Basic formulas - addition, subtraction, multiplication etc
Basic functions - SUM< MAX, MIN, AVERAGE, COUNT, COUNTA
IF Statements - often with a calculation in it

Don'ts

Do not use the word SUM in any formula other than adding a range (more than 2 cells)
eg do not do =sum(C6*C7)

If you are asked to use a named cell - MAKE SURE YOU NAME THE CELL AND USE IT!!
