Here is a passage that utilizes sensory details.
The main sensory detail we see here is taste. Notice how the author isn't just telling us that the soup is "good" or even "great!" We can imagine how good it is by reading descriptions like "flavorful, salty broth"

Figurative Language
Authors also use figurative language to describe people, places, and situations in their writing. Why do they do this?
-It makes their writing more interesting and engaging to read
-There are many types of figurative language! Similes, metaphors, hyperboles, personification, idioms, and more!!!
-It describes something more in depth than one adjective will
--"The food was as hot as lava!" vs "The food was really hot!"
