When we use an active
verb, we say what the
subject does.
When we use a passive
verb, we say what
happens to the subejct.
She cleaned the room yesterday.
The room was cleaned yesterday.

How to change the active to the passive
voice
They invited one hundred people to the wedding.
One hundred people were invited to the wedding.

passive voice
when we want to focus on the action
and not who/what did it
when we don’t know who/what did
the action, or when it’s very obvious
I've been offered a job.
My car was stolen!

what causes the action is often
unknown or unimportant.
The thieves were arrested. (by the
police that's obvious)
