Arcs and Chords of a Circle
Three theorems about arcs and chords
G.12(A) apply theorems about circles, including relationships among angles, radii, chords, tangents, and secants, to solve non‐contextual problems
LO: Students will use theorems of chords to solve for missing arcs and segments.

Quizziz Notes Guide
In these slides there will be notes slides and practice slides. There is plenty of time on each slide to draw your picture, label, and solve before time runs out. If you rush through this you will not grasp the concepts. Take your time and take good notes. READ READ READ.

Multiple Choice
Which definition below refers to a chord?
A line segment that runs from a circle's center to a point on the given circle.
A segment that connects any two points on a given circle.
A line, ray, or segment that intersects a given circle at more than one point.
A line, ray, or segment that intersects a given circle at only one point (even if extended).
6
Congruent mean equal
Equidistant means equal distance
Refer back to lesson 10.2 to learn more about arcs
Remember if two pieces are equal you can set up an equation to solve for missing pieces by putting an equal sign between them.

See that box on the circle. That means it forms a 90 degree angle (i.e. its perpendicular).
Notice those segment markings. Those mean that the big line bisects the small line (i.e. the small parts are equal in length).
Putting these together makes a perpendicular bisector.
