Simple Sentences

A simple sentence is a very short sentence that only has one subject and one predicate.


Example: The boy went to the park.

The friends baked a cake.

Compound Sentences

Compound sentences are two simple sentences that are connected by a coordinating conjunction (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so).

Example: The boy went to the park and played with all the other kids.

The friends stayed inside to baked a cake for it was a rainy day

Complex Sentence

A complex sentence is a sentence that has an independent clause (complete sentence) and a dependent clause (incomplete sentence).

Example: Before going to the park, the boy met up with his friends.

In an attempt to beat the crummy weather, the friends
baked a cake.
