Alternative Energy
2
Solar Energy
Solar energy is an alternative energy source that uses power harnessed from the sun to convert into energy. It can be used to power stuff from houses and cities to spacecraft. Solar panels extract the energy then store it into batteries.
3
Hydroelectric Energy
Hydroelectric energy is an alternative energy source that comes from dams. Water flows through pipes that spin turbines. When these turbines are spinned, the turbines power a generator that makes electricity.
4
Wind Energy
Wind energy is a alternative energy source that uses wind to turn turbines. These turbines work similar to hydroelectric, in which when spinned the turbines power a generator. These turbines are also taller than the Statue of Liberty of average.
5
Nuclear Energy
Nuclear energy is an alternative energy source in which you use energy obtained from nuclear fission. Nuclear fission is when an atom is split apart, this releases extraordinary amounts of energy. This is done at nuclear powerplants.
6
Tidal Energy
Tidal energy is an alternative energy source that uses the energy from the changing of tides in the ocean to turn turbines. These turbines also power a generator.
7
Geothermal Energy
Geothermal Energy uses the heat from inside the earth to power things. In practice, it uses hot water from the inner earth. The hot water turns into steam, then the steam turns a turbine. This turbine also powers a generator.
8
Bioenergy
Bioenergy is an alternative energy source that has you burn biological matter. This matter can be turned into fuel, burned for heat, or boiled and let steam turn a turbine.
9
Body Heat
The energy produced from humans body has been used as an alternative energy source before. In the central station of Stockholm, Sweden, engineers have made a way for the overcrowding of people to power their heating systems of a nearby office block.
10
Ethanol
The ethanol contained in alcohol can be used as an alternative energy source. Sweden once again proved this by using confiscated alcohol from the border as biofuel.
