RECOUNT TEXT

“Recount” dalam kamus bahasa Inggris berati “menceritakan”, “recount text” berarti “text yang menceritakan”.

“Recount text is a text that telling the reader about one story, action or activity.”

SOCIAL FUNCTION OF RECOUNT TEXT

“The social function (purpose) of recount text is to entertain or inform the readers.”

Tujuan recount text adalah

1. untuk menghibur dan menginformasikan para pembaca.
2. menceritakn suatu pengalaman atau kejadian yang terjadi dimasa lalu dengan tujuan untuk menghibur (entertain) dan menginformasikan (inform) pembaca.

KINDS OF RECOUNT TEXT

• Personal recount

  text yang berfungsi menceritakan tentang pengalaman pribadi penulis.

• Imaginative Recount

  text yang berfungsi menyajikan sebuah cerita imaginatif. Lalu menuliskan peristiwa atau kejadian yang telah terjadi.

• Factual recountText yang berfungsi untuk menyajikan laporan peristiwa yang benar-benar terjadi, seperti laporan science ataupun laporan kepolisian.

• Historical recount

  text yang membahas tentang sejarah baik itu tempat, kejadian dan benda bersejarah

Language Features of Recount Text

– Using the simple past tense, past continuous tense, past perfect tense, and past perfect continuous tense.

– Using temporal sequence, e.g. On Saturday. On Monday, On Sunday

– Focus on specific participant, e.g. I (the writer)

– Using the conjunctions, such as: then, before, after, etc.

– Using action verb, e.g. went, stayed

Generic structure of Recount Text

#Orientation : It gives the readers the background information needed to understand the text, such as who was involved, where it happened, and when it happened.

# Events : A series of events, ordered in a chronological sequence.

# Re-orientation :A personal comment about the event or what happened in the end.

A trip to the zoo. Yesterday my family went to the zoo to

see the elephants. when we got to the zoo, we went to the

shop to buy some food to give to the animals. after getting

the food, we went to the nocturnal house where we saw

birds and reptiles which only come out at night. before

lunch, we went for a ride on the elephant. it was a thrill to

ride it. dad nearly feel off when he let go of the rope. during

lunch, we fed some birds in the park. in the afternoon, we

saw the animals being fed. when we returned home, we

were tired but happy because we had so much fun.
