If you pour cold water into a hot metal pan, the water will absorb heat energy from the pan. Will the water come to the same temperature of the hot pan? What is the process? If you put the pan on the stove top, the stove top will heat both the pan and the water inside the pan, but it does not heat the two materials at the same rate.
