The Importance of Exercise

Start slowly. You can put yourself at risk if you do not usually get much physical activity and then all of a sudden do vigorous physical activity.

Moderate physical activity is generally safe for most people. Moderate physical activity is an exercise that is not excessive. Examples: walking, swimming leisurely, or riding a bike slowly.

​If you have a current health condition, talk with your doctor to find out if your condition in any way limits your ability to be active.

​Vigorous physical activity is an exercise that increases your heart rate and uses more muscle strength, such as: running, swimming competitively, playing football, playing soccer.
