• ask and answer the question "What is your name?"

• introduce myself to someone else in French,

• ask another person their name in French.

• use verb "s'appeler" (to be called) in present tense

• know personal pronouns

Tu

• "tu" is the informal way to say "you"

• use this form with your friends and family

• tu es fantastique! (you are fantastic!)

Il

• il = he

• Example:

• il est grand (he is tall)

Elle

• elle = she

• Example:

• elle est intelligente (she is smart)

Nous

• nous = we

• Example:

• Nous sommes fatigués (we are tired)

Vous

• Vous means two different things:

• The formal way to say "you" for when you are speaking to someone you don't know or someone in a position of respect.

• When referring to a group of people, like "you all." This is considered the plural form.

• Example:

• Comment allez-vous? (How are you? plural and/or formal)

• Vous aimez les frites? (Do you all like fries? plural and/or formal)

Ils, Elles

• Ils is used as "they" when it is a group of males or a group of males and females

• Elles is used as "they" when it is a group of females only

Tu & Vous = YOU

Use Tu in informal conversations and use Vous in formal conversations or with groups of people
