Newton's 2nd Law of Motion and Physics Formulas
Standard MS-PS2-2: Students can provided evidence that a change in an object's motion depends on the sum of forces acting on the object as well as calculate the amount of force acting on objects.
2
All forces come in pairs and in opposite directions.
All forces have a size (magnitude) and direction.
Force Facts (Add to Week 10 Notes)
3
Newton's Laws of Motion
An object in motion remains in motion until another forces acts on the object.
If the same force is applied to an object, the object with less mass will accelerate more than an object with more mass.
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
4
5
Subtract forces moving in opposite directions, if their total is 0 Newtons then the forces on the object are balanced and the object stays doing what the object was doing.
Balanced Forces
When you subtract the forces moving in opposite directions, if their total is not 0 then the object changes what the object was doing and moves in the direction of the greater force.
Unbalanced Forces
6
The speed an object travels over time.
(add the variables to Your Triangle on your Notes)
Solving for Average Speed
7
Change in velocity over time. (add the variables to Your your Notes)
Solving Acceleration Problems
8
The force needed to accelerate an object depends on the object's mass. c
