  • Soto directly characterizes Miguel when Soto directly states that Miguel does not like Robert. Soto writes, "He didn't really like Robert."

  • Soto indirectly characterizes Miguel when Soto writes that Miguel did not bother to wait. This detail helps readers infer that Miguel does not have a lot of patience for Robert. Another detail that helps readers understand Miguel is Soto's line, "Robert acted like they were best buds." This line helps confirm that Miguel might not have a lot of patience with Robert.
