  • When expressing an action in progress either in the past or present (e.g. estoy hablando, estuve hablando)

-ing (Present Participle)

  • With infinitive verb phrases as we've already learned (e.g. voy a comer, tengo que hablar)

  • In English, we often use the present participle (-ing) in several occasions where in Spanish we must use the INFINITIVE.

When the subject is a verb,
in Spanish we use an infinitive.
