Subject Pronouns
The subject pronouns replace (or substitute) the name of the subject in a sentence with a subject pronoun.

Louis loves to stay in his house every weekend.
Louis is the subject of the sentence.
Substitution: He loves to stay in his house every weekend. ("He" replaces "Louis.")
Charles and Adam live in the same city.
Charles and Adam are the subjects of the sentence.
Substitution: They live in the same city. ("They" replaces "Charles and Adam.")
The students and I only speak English.
The students and I are the subjects of the sentence.
Substitution: We only speak English. ("We" replaces "The students and I".)

Object Pronouns
The object pronouns replace (or substitute) the name of the object in a sentence with an object pronoun.

Review the following sentences:
Louis loves his mother
Mother is the object of the sentence (receives the action of the verb love).
Substitution: Louis loves her. ("her" replaces "his mother.")
Charles and Adam drank some soda.
Soda is the object of the sentence (receives the action of the verb drank).
Substitution: Charles and Adam drank it. ("it" replaces "some soda.")
The students and I learned the new vocabulary words last week.
Words is the subject of the sentence (receives the action of the verb learned).
Substitution: The students and I learned them last week. ("them" replaces "the new vocabulary words.")

Example:
Mary took a picture in the park.
The object in a sentence is who are/what is receiving the action from the subject.
In this case the subject of the sentence is Mary because Mary took a picture; she did the action. The object in this case is picture because it is what Mary took.

How do we identify
the subject and object in a sentence?
The subject is the person or things that complete the action.
The object is who or what is receiving the action of the verb.
Lucas hugged his girlfriend.

Possessive Pronouns
Possessive pronouns are pronouns that indicate possession: who owns (or possesses) what. That is, they are used to point out that something belongs to someone. They are usually used at the end of a sentence.
Just like the other personal pronouns that we have reviewed, possessive pronouns do not use an article (the, a, or an).
