Subjects are in the Nominative Case.

Singular subjects often end with -us and -a, but there are a collection of other endings like -x, -is, -ns, r, etc. You can find the nominative signular of a noun by looking at the dictionary form. The first word is the nominative singular. For example, the nominative singular of custos, custodis (m.) is custos.

Plural subjects end with -i, -ae, or -es.
