· Develop a research question.
· To brainstorm.
· Develop an outline.
What do you think the next step is?
6
Yes research!
When researching, we cannot just use any material we find online. The reason for this:
The information and / or sources must be:
a. Credible
b. Relevant
To the topic and the reason for researching.
Let’s start with the source!
7
How do we know that the source is reliable?
· Reliable information:
o Must come from dependable sources.
o A reliable source will provide a thorough well -reasoned theory, argument etc. based on strong evidence.
8
Now we know what are reliable sources, but how do we identify reliable sources? What makes a source reliable? To determine whether a source is reliable or not you must look at certain criteria. Those criteria are:
1. Authority: Who is the author?
2. Accuracy: How accurate is the author’s information?
3. Coverage: Is the information relevant to my topic?
4. Currency: Is your topic constantly evolving?
9
How to arrange your research results:
The internet is filled with false and biased information. Using information that is not accurate or is false, will have negative consequence for your credibility.
When you have to do an essay of 4000 words you have to have a way to organize your research otherwise you will lose track of your sources and the information. There are different ways to do this. I am giving you a way to organize it that makes sense.
