Recycling means turning old products into new ones.

Recycling

It’s key for our planet’s health. It saves natural resources, cuts pollution, and fights climate change.

The Circular Economy

The circular economy is an economic model designed to minimize waste and make the most of resources as closed-loop system where resources are reused, recycled, or repurposed.

It contrasts with the traditional linear economy, which follows a "take, make, dispose" pattern.

In the principal of circular economy, products and materials are kept in use for as long as possible, extracting maximum value before recovering and regenerating them at the end of their service life.

For example, electrical devices are designed in such a way that they are easier to repair. Products and raw materials are also reused as much as possible.

For example, by recycling plastic into pellets for making new plastic products.

12

Multiple Choice

Which of the following describes the traditional linear economy?

A business model focused on sharing and leasing products

Reducing waste by reusing and recycling materials

Focusing only on short-term profits

4

Ignoring environmental concerns to increase operational efficiency

14

Multiple Choice

What is the central principle of the circular economy?

1

To increase consumption of non-renewable resources

2

To create a closed-loop system where resources are reused, recycled, or repurposed

3

To make products with a short lifespan

4

To focus on reducing business costs at the expense of environmental health

15

Multiple Choice

Which of the following is an example of the circular economy in practice?

It promotes long-term sustainability

2

It reduces the environmental impact of manufacturing

3

It leads to overconsumption of natural resources and increases waste

4

It ensures that all resources are renewable

17

Multiple Choice

What is the primary goal of sustainability?

1

To reduce the need for renewable energy

2

To meet the current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs

3

To use non-renewable resources more efficiently

4

To increase waste production and disposal

18

Multiple Choice

How does recycling help reduce environmental harm?

1

It increases energy consumption

2

It reduces the need for new raw materials and cuts down on waste

3

It creates more pollution

4

It contributes to deforestation
