Động từ là gì (Verb) ?

• Động từ là những từ chỉ hành động, trạng thái của một người hay vật

• Động từ (verb) là thành phần không thể thiếu trong các cấu trúc câu.

Động từ (Verb) đứng ở đâu ?

• Động từ đứng sau chủ ngữ để bổ nghĩa cho chủ thể đó.

  Ví dụ:

  • She studied in a local primary school. ( Cô ấy đã học tại một trường tiểu học địa phương.)

  • He hits the gym every morning. (Anh ấy tập gym mỗi buổi sáng.)

• That guy is 170 centimetres tall. (Anh chàng kia cao 170 cm.)

• The babies are hungry. (Mấy đứa nhỏ đang đói.)

• We are quite happy now. (Chúng tôi đang rất hạnh phúc.)

• My neighbour is a doctor. He was a nurse 3 years ago. (Hàng xóm của tôi là bác sĩ. Anh ta từng là y tá 3 năm trước.)

Ví dụ

Động từ to be thường được sử dụng để diễn đạt trạng thái về cảm xúc, địa điểm, thời gian, tình trạng thể chất, tâm lý hoặc đặt tên cho chủ thể trong câu.

• I visit my grandparents every week. (Tôi tới thăm ông bà hàng tuần.)

• Holmes travelled to the Buckingham Palace. (Ông Holmes đi tới cung điện Buckingham.)

• The woman eats the whole lobster in her dinner. (Người phụ nữ ăn cả con tôm hùm trong bữa tối.)

Động từ chỉ hành động (Action verbs) là những từ dùng để chỉ điều mà chủ thể trong câu chủ động thực hiện.
