How to write a blog post!
Review of Paper 2
2
You write it maybe to update your fans about a recent event you have seen, or tell them about something that has happened to you.
Why do you write it?
It's like an internet diary. You are usually talking to your fans or friends.
What is it?
What is a 'blog post'?
3
Yes, you can talk directly to the reader of your blog by asking questions like 'That's totally crazy, right?'
Talk to the audience?
No, it should be written in an INFORMAL way.
Formal?
What's the tone?
4
What is the aim of a blog post?
Make sure to describe what you see. If you are describing a restaurant, the reader wants to know all about the restaurant so describe everything i.e. the food, the waiting staff, the room, the decorations...EVERYTHING!
To inform
You want to entertain your fans or followers, so be creative and add as many unique details as you can.
To entertain

How do we structure it?
A generic (通用的) beginning:
Hey Guys!
It looks like you are reading my blog again, so thanks for the support! Sorry, it has been so long since I last posted—almost two weeks! I wanted to post sooner, but I have been drowning in work! Anyway, you are not here to read about my troubles and travails! So, here I am, sitting in my bedroom, typing to you because I have something amazing to tell you!
6
How do we structure it?
Say what you are going to write about:
Ex: Last week, I went to the theatre with my Grandma to watch Cantonese Opera. Can you believe it? Me and Cantonese Opera? Well, anyway, let me tell you a little about why I went, how I felt, and whether I will do it again. – (Introduction – tells you what I am writing about)

How do we structure it?
Give background:
Ex: Two weeks ago, on a Tuesday, I was at Grandma’s house for our weekly dinner. We were eating the usual things – you know – some dumplings and ma po tofu. Suddenly, Grandma looked at me and said “Would you like to come to the Cantonese Opera with me? I have some tickets.” Well, I had never been to the Cantonese Opera before. To be honest, I was a little hesitant as I had always thought Cantonese Opera was boring. However, I did not want to offend Grandma, so I agreed to go. (Setting the scene – before the main event)

How do we structure it?
The start of the story: The following Tuesday, we were in North Point and walking to the theatre. A big queue had already formed outside on the street, so we had to wait in line. When we got to the front of the queue, we walked through the main doors and into the theatre. I was stunned! The show hadn’t started, but music was already playing and lights were shining around the theatre. (the start)

How do we structure it?
Describe the event: We took our seats and I was feeling excited! When the curtains opened, I was blown away! Actors with incredible make-up walked onto the stage. They had amazing costumes and they were singing in the strangest way. The opera was called “The Painted Skin” and was about a fox spirit who turns into a young woman and then seduces a married man named Wang. The story was more shocking than I thought a Cantonese Opera would be. (describe the event)

How do we structure it?
Feelings and recommendation: When the lights finally went off and the curtains closed, I had been converted. I was now a Cantonese Opera-lover. I thought the costumes, the music, and the acting were magical. In the future, I will definitely be going to watch Cantonese Opera again. I would recommend that you should also try it yourself because you will have an amazing time, and you will see some incredible costumes.

Generic end and goodbye:
Anyway, guys, that’s the end of this blog post. I promise to be more regular with my posts in the future! I do not want you to stop reading!
Next week, I have a really funny story to tell you about me, a fish, and a cooking pot.
See you soon!
