Some of the expressions in the last problem are linear expressions. A linear expression is an expression that can be written as the sum or difference of expressions that consist of either a number, a variable, or the product of a number and a variable.

A number in a linear expression is called a constant term. A variable or the product of a number and a variable is called a linear term.
