Understanding Climate Change: Causes, Effects, and Solutions

Definition of Climate Change
Climate change refers to long-term shifts in global weather patterns and average
temperatures. These changes affect our planet's climate systems and have significant
impacts on life on Earth.

The Greenhouse Effect and Greenhouse Gases
The greenhouse effect is a natural process where certain gases in Earth's atmosphere
trap heat from the sun, keeping our planet warm enough for life. However, human
activities have increased the concentration of greenhouse gases, leading to excessive
warming. The main greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide (CO), methane (CH),
nitrous oxide (NO), and water vapor.

Causes of Climate Change

1. Burning fossil fuels for energy and transportation
2. Deforestation and land clearing
3. Industrial processes and manufacturing
4. Agricultural practices, including livestock farming
5. Waste management and landfills
6. Use of chemical fertilizers

Negative Effects of Climate Change

On People:

Increased frequency of extreme weather events

Food and water scarcity

Spread of diseases

Displacement of communities due to rising sea levels

On Animals:

Habitat loss and destruction

Species extinction

Migration pattern changes

Ocean acidification affecting marine life
