Writers may choose to infuse their opinion in their work in order to:

  • develop a particular tone

  • engage their audience

Strategies to infuse your opinion into your writing: 

  • include personal pronouns (e.g. “That seemed like a lot of money to me…”)

  • use descriptive or figurative language (e.g. “...the Lions were a toy.”)

  • incorporate qualifiers that reveal your opinion (e.g. “...an investment that nobody would confuse with a New York-based NFL team…”)
