Bones, Cartilage and Connective Tissue

-The skeletal system is divided into 2 parts:

• Axial Skeletal System

• Appendicular Skeletal System

Limbs, and fingers, toes, and other not centered bones (everything else beside the spine, ribcage, and skull)

The skull, the ribcage, and the spine (most centered bones)

Spongy vs. Compact

Tissue with no visible spaces

• ​tiny canals contain small blood vessels

Compact Bone

Tissue with many open spaces

• ​provides more strength and support for boen
