Today we are going to learn about point of view. This is a literary technique that authors use.

What is Point of View?

Point of view = WHO is telling the story. Whose point of view is the story told from?

There are three types of point of view:

• ​First person

• Second person

• Third person​

• A character in the story is the person telling the story.

• They use words like, I, me, and my

• ​They reveal their thoughts and feelings but they do not know the thoughts and feelings of the other characters.

• The reader is being spoken to directly

• The narrator is not a character in the story.

• There is an OUTSIDE narrator.

• Third person-limited: there is an outside narrator who knows the thoughts and feelings of only one of the characters
