Letter Patterns and Rules

3. Try the other letters to see if it looks right.

4. Choose the one you think looks best.

• Think of other spelling patterns that might be correct.

• Choose the correct spelling.​

Rules

There are LOTS of spelling rules in English. Here are a few to remember:

1. "I need U," says Q.

   1. "Q" is always followed by a "u."

2. L, F, and S get lonely and the end...give them a friend!

   1. Words usually have -ll, -ff, or -ss at the end (not -l, -f, or -s).

3. ​You'll never see C at the end.

   1. If you hear "c" at the end, it's probably a -k or -ck. ​
