IF I WERE/WAS

• Use "if I was" for real situations.

• Use "if I were" indicates an unreal situation. Something that can never happen.

Examples

• If I were you, I would study harder. < < I am not you. It is impossible for me to be you.

• If he were a woman, he would have lots of babies. < < He is not a woman!

• If I was wrong, I would apologize. < < I might have been wrong.

•  If I was rude to you, then I would be sorry. < < I might have been rude
