Kinds of Sentences
There are four kinds of sentences. Declarative sentences make statements. Imperative sentences give commands. Exclamatory sentences show strong emotion. Interrogative sentences ask questions.

Declarative
These tell us something. They end with a period.
The eel is slippery.

Imperative
These give a command or request. They end with a period or an exclamation mark.
Don't feed the fish.
Don't feed the fish!

Exclamatory
These show strong feeling. They end with an exclamation mark.
Look at that snapping turtle's mouth!

Interrogative
These ask a question. They end with a question mark.
How did they get matching shirts?

Open Ended
Write a declarative about your favorite animal.

Categorize
Actually, there are some that have as many as 20 arms.
Do all star fish have five arms?
Look at that orange star near the shore.
What is that starfish called?
One name for it is the sunflower star.
