Directions
Advance through the quizizz lesson. Read the slides and answer the questions along the way. Do your best!
Learning Target:
By the end of this lesson, I will be able to compare and order rational numbers.
3
How will we compare?
You will be given many different types of numbers and asked to compare them. The BEST way to do this is to convert them all into the same form.
We will type them into Desmos to convert all real numbers into decimal form.
**Do you have Desmos open and ready???
4
Let's quickly review how to compare decimals...
Steps:
1) Line up your numbers so that the decimals are in the same place
2) Starting from the LEFT, compare each digit. If they are equal, move to the next number
Example -->
Now let's try a couple!
5
Multiple Choice
0.74 ___ 0.354 Which symbol correctly compares the two numbers?
<
>
=
6
Multiple Choice
Which is the greatest--0.19, 1.00, 0.91, or 0.02?
0.02
0.19
0.91
1.00
7
Multiple Choice
Order the following decimals from least to greatest 0.54 0.5 0.85 0.8
0.5 0.54 0.8 0.85
0.54 0.5 0.8 0.85
0.85 0.8 0.5 0.54
0.8 0.5 0.85 0.54
8
If we are given a fraction, we will just convert them into decimals!
HOW TO:
Divide numerator by the denominator
Example 1-->
Example 2 -->
9
Multiple Choice
True or False. When turning a fraction into a decimal we divide the denominator by the numerator. d÷n
True
False
10
Remember: it is always numerator divided by denominator!!
11
Multiple Choice
Express 2/5 as a decimal. (Use Desmos)
0.2
0.4
0.5
0.7
12
Multiple Choice
What is 85 as a decimal? (Use Desmos)
0.58
0.625
0.875
0.375
13
What if it is an improper fraction??
Steps:
1) Type in your whole number
2) Hit the addition (+) sign
3) Type in the fractions
Example -->
14
Multiple Choice
Make this a decimal
4 3/5
4.8
4.6
4.35
43.5
15
Multiple Choice
What is 2 4/5 as a decimal?
2.45
0.8
2.8
0.45
2.25
16
PERCENTS: Change to a decimal
Either move the decimal 2 places to the left
OR
Divide the number by 100
(DON'T use the percent key in Desmos!!)
Example 1: 7.9% as a decimal -->
Example 2: 145% as a decimal -->
17
Multiple Choice
to turn a percent to a decimal you have to...
subtract 100
multiply by 100
divide by 100
add 100
18
Multiple Choice
Change 32% to a decimal.

0.05
0.005
21
You could also see square roots, absolute value, and scientific notation.
Remember: just put them into Desmos! You can compare them when they are all decimals.
22
We are going to practice putting all those different types of numbers in order...
Some reminders / hints:
**If it is NOT already a decimal, PUT IT INTO DESMOS!! Don't just guess... compare your decimal answers!
*Ascending = least to greatest (getting bigger)
*Descending = greatest to least (getting smaller)
23
Multiple Choice
Choose <, >, or = to fill in the circle and create a true statement. (Hint: Put the fraction into Desmos!)
