What is a Compass Rose?
A Compass Rose is one of the four elements of the map. It shows the four cardinal directions. It must be there on every map.
Geographers use the for cardinal directions when using or making a map. these four directions are:
North
South
East
West

The direction between two cardinals is called the Intermediate direction. They are:
Northeast
Southeast
Northwest
Southwest

What is a map key?
A map key tells us what each symbol stands for.
It also uses symbols, colours or lines to represent essential places or landmarks on a map.
Symbols also provide us with information about physical features such as seas, oceans, rivers and deserts.

Colours on the map are used to express some phenomena for e.g. natural maps, the green colour is used to donate the plain areas, brown colour donates the mountainous regions.
