What is the Executive Branch?
The Executive Branch was created in Article 2 of the Constitution.
It Contains the President, Vice President, and 15 Executive Departments.
The Purpose of the Executive Branch is to carry out laws.

Qualifications of the President
Must be at least 35 years old.
Must be a resident of the USA for 14 years.
Must be born in the USA or have a parent that is a US citizen.

The President's Job
Oversees the Federal Government.
Appoint Officials( cabinet members, ambassadors,etc.)
Chief Commanding Officer of the Military.
Head of Froegin Policy. (Makes Treaties)
Political Party Leader.
Oversees the Economy(Helps with Budgeting).
Pass or Veto Laws.
If they do not do their job.... they can be IMPEACHED

President of the Senate(breaks tie votes).
Principal advisor to the President.
Becomes President, if the President dies, resigns, or is impeached.
Until the 12th Amendment, the losing party candidate would be Vice President. Now, the president chooses who will be Vice President alongside them while running for election.

Checks & Balances
· The legislative branch makes laws, but the President in the executive branch can veto those laws with a Presidential Veto.
· The President in the executive branch can veto a law, but the legislative branch can override that veto with enough votes.
· The legislative branch has the power to approve Presidential nominations, control the budget, and can impeach the President and remove him or her from office.
· The executive branch can declare Executive Orders, which are like proclamations that carry the force of law, but the judicial branch can declare those acts unconstitutional.
· The judicial branch interprets laws, but the President nominates Supreme Court justices, court of appeals judges, and district court judges who make the evaluations.
