Topic: Inclined Plane
An inclined plane is a slope or a ramp or any slanting surface that helps to carry loads with less effort.
5
Essential Question
How has inclined plane changed the world?
6
Learning Objective
Analyze and explain how inclined planes make it easier to lift things up.

Mechanical Advantage (MA) is a measure of how much easier a machine (like an inclined plane) makes doing work. For an inclined plane, it’s calculated using the formula: Mechanical Advantage = Length of the Incline/Height of the Incline
Example: Imagine you're helping your friend move a heavy box into a truck. Instead of lifting it straight up, you use a ramp (inclined plane) to push the box into the truck. The ramp makes the job easier. Real-Life Question: You have a ramp that is 6 meters long and the truck is 2 meters high. What is the mechanical advantage of using the ramp?
12
Multiple Choice
An inclined plane reduces the amount of force needed to move an object by -
transferring more of the force to the object
reversing the direction the object is moved.
increasing the distance that object moves
