USES OF PLANTS

• CEREALS , PULSES, VEGETABLES COME FROM PLANTS.

• SUGAR, OIL AND JAGGERY  ARE OBTAINED FROM PLANTS AS WELL

• WOOD, FIBRE ,RUBBER,GUM,TEA AND COFFEE ARE OBTAINED FROM PLANTS 

•  HALF OF OXYGEN IS OBTAINED FROM PLANTS

• PLANTS HELP IN REDUCE SOIL EROSION 

New plants from seeds

Why does a plant produce many seeds? The answer is that they need create more of them self or else their species will disappear from earth. But many seeds grow into new plant, this is because :

1. some seeds are not fully grown when separated from parent plants 
2. some seeds are destroyed by wind or water
3. some seeds are eaten or destroyed by birds or insects

EXPERIMENT TIME, A Seed And Its Parts

soak some gram seeds in water for a whole night. you will see that some seeds have their outer cover has been separated, the outer cover is seed coat. inside there are two seed leaves or cotyledons. separate them two and you will find the baby plant.it has both a tiny shoot and tiny root.
