What is inferencing?

Imagine you're reading a story or watching a movie, and you notice something that isn't directly said or shown, but you can figure it out based on what you do see or hear. That's what inferencing is all about!

Fill in the Blanks

6

Making an Educated Guess

Inferencing is like being a detective. You gather clues from what you see, hear, or read, and then you use those clues to make smart guesses about what's happening or what's going to happen next.

7

Using Clues from the Text:

When you're reading a book or a passage, the author might not always tell you everything directly. Instead, they give you hints and clues along the way. These clues can be in the form of words, descriptions, actions, or even the feelings of the characters.

In the heart of the bustling city, amidst the towering skyscrapers and honking traffic, a mysterious figure clad in a vibrant cloak dashed through the crowded streets. In one hand, they clutched a tattered map, its edges frayed from countless adventures.
