Mexico and he had just lost all of his
fortune.

The Mexican government gave Moses an
empresario contract, allowing Moses
Austin to start a colony in Mexican owned
Texas bringing in settlers from the U.S
●
Moses Died before he could bring people
to Texas. Left colonizing up to his son

●
Stephen’s dream to become a lawyer
was put on hold. He was now
responsible for bringing the first 300
settlers to Texas.
●

important figure working with the
Mexican government

Texas revolution

Erasmo Seguin
Most successful Tejano rancher
1824
Erasmo Seguin was a Tejano empresario. Seguin represented Texas at the Mexican Constitutional Convention in 1824.
When Mexico decided to invite immigrants to Texas, Seguin helped locate the land that Stephen F. Austin and his families would settle.
He supported Texas Independence
