Forming Possessive Nouns

Singular and Plural Possessives

For Singular Possessive Nouns, add 's (apostrophe + s)

the toy of the baby = the baby's toy

the house of the dog = the dog's house

the book of the student = the student's book

***Notice the (thing owned/possession) of the (owner) phrase is changed to owner's thing when we form the singular possessive noun

For (Regular) Plural Possessive Nouns, add only ' (apostrophe)

the bags of the students = the students' bags

the rooms of the pets = the pets' rooms

the words of the parents = the parents' words

***Notice the (thing owned/possession) of the (owners) phrase is changed to owners' things when we form the regular plural possessive noun
