Roald Dahl was born on September 13, 1916 in Llandaff, Wales. His parents were originally from Norway. As a kid he loved to read fantasy books and listen to his mom tell stories.

Dahl attended Repton school, a very prestigious boarding school in Repton, Darbyshire. He graduated in July 1934. During his years at Repton, the Cadbury chocolate company ocassionally sent new boxes of chocolates for the students to try. This sparked an idea for one of the books that Dahl Later wrote. Children's books

His children's books are usually told from the point of view of a child. The usually involve evil adults who mistreat the child and have one "good" adult that helps them counteract the evil ones. Dahl uses fun, creative language to keep his readers entertained.
