​Spanish flu, also known as the Great Influenza epidemic or the 1918 influenza pandemic, was one of the biggest pandemics with the first case being recorded on March 4, 1918 in Kansas USA. It infected 500 million people (1/3 of the global population at the time) in 4 successive waves, and killed a estimated 25-50 million people.

World War 1 or the first war​ was a global war originating in Europe that lasted from 28 July 1914 to 11 November 1918. Contemporaneously known as the Great War or "the war to end all wars" it led to the mobilization of more than 70 million military personnel, including 60 million Europeans, making it one of the largest wars in history, and also one of the deadliest conflicts in history, with an estimated 8.5 million combatant deaths and 13 million civilian deaths as a direct result of the war.

​The Great Migration, sometimes known as the Great Northward Migration or the Black Migration, was the movement of six million African Americans out of the rural Southern United States to the urban Northeast, Midwest and West that occurred between 1916 and 1970. It was caused primarily by the poor economic conditions as well as the prevalent racial segregation and discrimination in the Southern states where Jim Crow laws were upheld.
