Word Order in sentences

​Word order in English

We change the parts of sentences in German language, but we cannot change it in English.
The shortest sentence possible always has a SUBJECT and a VERB.

​ Lucy reads.

If we want to know WHAT Lucy reads, we must add an OBJECT.

​ Lucy reads a book.
Subject Verb Object

​Word order in English

If we want to know WHERE Lucy reads her book, we can add an ADVERBIAL OF PLACE.

​ Lucy reads a book in her room.

​Word order in English

If we want to know WHEN Lucy reads her book, we can also add an ADVERBIAL OF TIME.

​ Lucy reads a book in her room every day.
