The Water Cycle
The water cycle is a continuous process in which water evaporates from the Earth's surface, rises into the atmosphere as water vapor, condenses into clouds, and falls back to the Earth as precipitation. This cycle ensures that the same amount of water is recycled on Earth. Evaporation occurs when liquid water is heated by the sun and turns into water vapor, which then rises into the atmosphere.

Water Cycle is Hydrosphere
Water Cycle - Hydrosphere
The same amount of water on earth is recycled
4
• Evaporation - Liquid water turns to gas (water vapor) when heated by the sun
• Transpiration The process by which plants remove excess water through stomata present on the surface of leaves
• Condensation - Water vapor turns to droplets after cooling down due to temperature change in the air
• Precipitation - Water droplets form clouds and get too heavy, so the water falls to the ground Rain, sleet, snow, hail
• Runoff - After precipitation, water travels downhill due to gravity o
• Collection - Runoff travels back into larger bodies of water so the process can start again

Multiple Choice
What is the process by which water evaporates from the Earth's surface and rises into the atmosphere?
Condensation
Precipitation
Evaporation
Transpiration

Water Cycle
Trivia: Did you know that the process by which water evaporates from the Earth's surface and rises into the atmosphere is called evaporation? This is an essential part of the water cycle, where water continuously moves between the Earth's surface and the atmosphere. Other processes in the water cycle include condensation, precipitation, and transpiration.

Open Ended
•Evaporation - Liquid water turns to gas (water vapor) when heated by the sun
• Transpiration Condensation - Water vapor turns to droplets after cooling down due to temperature changes in the air
• Precipitation - Water droplets form clouds and get too heavy, so the waterfalls to the ground Rain, sleet, snow, hail
• Runoff - After precipitation, water travels downhill due to gravity
• Collection - Runoff travels back into larger bodies of water so the process can start again

The Water Cycle
1. Transpiration: The process by which plants release water vapor into the atmosphere.
2. Condensation: Water vapor turns into droplets when it cools down.
3. Precipitation: Water droplets form clouds and fall to the ground as rain, snow, sleet, or hail.
9
Multiple Choice
Which process of the water cycle involves water droplets forming clouds and falling to the ground as rain, snow, sleet, or hail?
Transpiration
Condensation
Evaporation
Precipitation

The Water Cycle
1. Evaporation - Water from oceans, lakes, and rivers turns into vapor due to heat.
2. Condensation - Water vapor cools and turns into clouds.
3. Precipitation - Clouds become too heavy, so the water falls to the ground as rain, sleet, snow, or hail.
4. Runoff - After precipitation, water travels downhill due to gravity.
5. Collection - Runoff travels back to oceans, lakes, and rivers, completing the water cycle.
