Which brings us here --->
We've discussed...
11
The REAL YOU is the one in private, not the one in public.
Your attitude toward others comes out in situations that cost you the least to be fleshly.
God gives some simple instructions that, if followed, will grow you.
The "bond of perfectness" really starts to solidify at home.
HOME: The proving ground.

Read Colossians 3:18-19.
What is the job of a husband? What is the job of a wife?
13
Christ wasn't exempt from that, neither are we.
You must put a part of yourself to death in order for any relationship to be healthy.
A wife sacrifices her will to control for love's sake.
A husband sacrifices his self importance for love's sake.
Whichever relationship, I must want the other's needs more and not focus on what I want.
Flesh will ruin any relationship, mortify it!
Relationships require sacrifice of the self
What does this mean for teens?
14

Read Colossians 3:20.
What is the job of the children in the home?
15
Multiple Choice
Exodus 20:12 says, "Honour thy father and thy mother..."
What does the word "honor" mean?
To love deeply
To obey always
To show kindness
To make heavy
16
Make them heavy!
Never mock, belittle, talk back to, make fun of your parents.
EVEN IF they were terrible parents, God's expectation is that you as the child treat them in high regard.
Less about what they do; more about who they are.
If you seek God on this, he will form it in your heart. It will bless you, it will bless your parents, and it will cause good things to happen!
Relationships require not taking people lightly
17
BUT WHY?!
You'll never not owe them everything.
You could dishonor them, but only because you exist...which you owe to them.
They have willingly taken on great cost and hardship to get you to where you are.
We don't want God to view us according to our mess ups, we want him to view us according to who we are in Christ!
It is easy to look past the mess ups of someone you truly honor.
18
Open Ended
Read Colossians 3:21.
What is the job of fathers?
19
You will answer to someone at every stage of life.
God's expectation is humble obedience.
There is always a leader and a follower
The leader leads in love
The follower obeys in humility
You will be both throughout your life
Whoever is the leader is the one with the greatest capacity to build up...or to tear down.
There doesn't come a point where you don't need to obey anymore
