One sunny Saturday morning, I woke up feeling excited because Mom and I had planned a special activity which is planting trees in our backyard. It was a perfect day, with the sun shining brightly and birds chirping outside. Little did I know that this day would become one of my favorite memories with her.

After breakfast, we prepared everything we needed: shovels, watering cans, compost, and some young trees such as a tall oak, a magnolia, an apple tree and a cherry tree. Mom explained how important trees are for the environment. She said they provide oxygen, shade, and homes for animals. I felt proud knowing we were doing something good for nature. Before starting, we went to the local nursery to buy mulch and fertilizer. Walking through rows of colorful plants at the nursery was so much fun. Mom even told me interesting facts about different types of trees.

Back home, we picked spots in the backyard for each tree. Mom chose the center of the yard for the oak tree since it would grow big and provide shade in the future. Then, we started digging holes. It was hard work, but also fun. We laughed as dirt got on our clothes and faces. Once the holes were ready, we carefully placed each tree inside. Mom showed me how to plant them at the right depth and add compost to help them grow strong. As we planted each tree, I imagined how they would look years from now.

That day wasn’t just about planting trees. It was about spending time with my mom and learning something valuable about nature. Every time I see those trees growing taller in our backyard, I remember that special day filled with laughter and teamwork. Since then, planting trees has become a tradition for us. It’s amazing to think that something as simple as planting a tree can create such meaningful memories.
After planting, we watered each tree to help settle the soil around their roots. Mom explained how young trees need extra care like regular watering and protection from pests. We took turns with the watering cans while talking about how these trees would someday give us shade and fruit. When we finished, I stood back to admire our work. The sight of those little saplings filled me with pride. Mom gave me a big hug and said she was proud of us for making a difference.
