DO NOW

  1. Get a piece of BLANK WHITE PAPER and write your name and class period in the top right corner.

  2. TITLE the page "THE WATER CYCLE".

  3. Draw an OCEAN on the bottom right corner and LABEL the state of matter the water is in when it's in the ocean!

  1. Place your Water Cycle Diagram at your place, and put everything else in a neat pile. Stand behind your tucked in chair with ONLY a pencil in your hand.

  2. When the music is playing, walk around.

  3. When the music stops, find a diagram that is close to you (ONE PERSON PER DIAGRAM) and ADD (DRAWING/LABEL) whatever is on the slide to that diagram!

The sun's energy heats liquid water in oceans, lakes, and rivers, causing it to turn into water vapor (a gas) and rise into the atmosphere.
DRAW the SUN and the ENERGY rays it sends to the ocean.

As the water vapor rises and cools in the atmosphere, it changes back into liquid water, forming clouds.

When clouds become saturated, water falls back to Earth's surface in the form of rain, snow, sleet, or hail.

The water that falls on the ground flows into rivers, lakes, underground aquifers and oceans, and the cycle starts again.
