Obiettivi della Lezione

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

• Count from 0 to 100

• Ask and tell the time in Italian

• Use vocabulary related to the classroom environment

• Use c’è / ci sono to express existence

• Recognize plural forms of classroom nouns

Grammatica: C’è / Ci sono

🔹 C’è = There is (singular)

• C’è una sedia. → There is a chair.

🔹 Ci sono = There are (plural)

• Ci sono tre studenti. → There are three students.

🟡 Negative:

• Non c’è un computer.

• Non ci sono matite.

Che Ore Sono? (Telling Time)

🔹 Basics:

• Che ore sono? = What time is it?

• È l’una. = It’s 1:00.

• Sono le due / tre / quattro... = It’s 2:00, etc.

🔹 Minutes:

• Sono le due e cinque. → 2:05

• Sono le sette e un quarto. → 7:15

• Sono le sei e mezza. → 6:30

• Sono le dieci meno dieci. → 9:50

🔹 A che ora? (At what time?)

• Alle sette / All’una / A mezzogiorno

A che ora è la lezione? → Alle nove e un quarto.

• Le scuole italiane cominciano intorno alle 8:00 e finiscono nel primo pomeriggio.

• Gli studenti italiani non cambiano aula – sono i professori a spostarsi.

• Le lezioni sono più frontali, meno interattive che negli USA.

• Non c'è un vero campus universitario come in America; spesso gli edifici sono sparsi per la città.

1. Draw (or describe) your ideal classroom. Write 5 sentences with there is / there are.

2. Record an audio/video in which you say the times of at least 4 events (e.g. breakfast, class, dinner, sleep).

3. Make a table with the numbers from 1 to 20 written in Italian.
