Cixi Student-Parent Handbook

This is a breakdown of the student handbook. Please take some time to review the handbook on your own.

Academic Program

• Graduation Requirements: 22 credits (core + electives), 35 community service hours.

• Grading Scale: A+ (97–100) to F (0–59.9). Weighted GPA for Honors/AP courses.

• Late Work Policy: 30% penalty for 1–3 days late; not accepted after 3 days.

• Academic Integrity: Strict penalties for plagiarism/cheating (0% on assignment, probation, or expulsion).

Attendance Policy

• Excused Absences: Illness, school events, standardized tests (limited).

• Unexcused Absences: Test prep, vacations, unauthorized leave.

• Chronic Illness: Requires documentation for exemption from penalties.

• Truancy: 10+ absences per course may require Credit Recovery.

Behavior Policy

• Progressive Discipline: Merit/demerit system; consequences escalate (detention → suspension → expulsion).

• Major Offenses: Bullying, harassment, substance use, or violence may result in expulsion.

Electronic Device Policy

• Phones/laptops prohibited unless authorized.

• Misuse (e.g., social media in class) leads to confiscation/discipline.

Extracurriculars & Parent Engagement

• Clubs, awards (Honor Roll), and community service required for graduation.
