I can identify independent and dependent clauses by using them in correctly in sentences.

I can use academic language (independent clause, dependent clause) to explain, identify, and write sentences that include both types of clauses.

• Independent is an adult because it can stand alone

• Dependent is a baby because it needs an adult (independent) to be complete
