What is a Tercet, Quatrain, and Couplet?

Tercet: a 3-line stanza (often with rhyme, like aba).

Quatrain: a 4-line stanza (often with alternating rhyme, like abab).

Couplet: 2 lines that usually rhyme and complete a thought.

FAST Tip: Recognizing stanza length can help you predict rhyme and repetition questions.

What is a Line Break?
