What Is a Series?
A series is when we list three or more things in a sentence.
Example:
I have a dog, a cat, and a hamster.
💡 Tip: The commas help us separate each item so it’s easy to read!

What Are Commas?
A comma (,) is a punctuation mark that tells the reader to pause.
We use commas to separate items in a list.
Example:
We bought apples, oranges, and pears.
💡 Say it: “Apples (pause), oranges (pause), and pears!”

Commas in a Series of Nouns
When you name three or more nouns, use commas to separate them.
Put “and” before the last noun.
Example:
I see clouds, birds, and airplanes in the sky.
We packed sandwiches, chips, and fruit for lunch.
💡 Remember:
No commas if you only have two nouns!
✅ I have a pencil and an eraser.
❌ I have a pencil, and an eraser.
