Parts of a Sentence

Every complete sentence has essential parts that work together:

  • Subject: The person, place, thing, or idea that the sentence is about

  • Verb: The action or state of being that tells what the subject does

  • Object: The person, place, thing, or idea that receives the action of the verb

Remember: Subject + Verb + Object = Complete Sentence!
Subject + Verb + Object

  • Example: "The teacher (subject) teaches (verb) the students (object).
